Coffee was grown at Radnor Estate in Jamaica. The best batches of Blue Mountain coffee have a mild flavor and no bitterness. Blue Mountain Jamaica or Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee is arabica coffee grown in the blue mountains of Jamaica. This type of coffee is one of the most expensive in the world. The Blue Mountains are located between Kingston in the south and Port Antonio in the north. Rising to 2,256 meters, they are among the highest mountains in the Caribbean. The climate in the region is cool and foggy with high rainfall. The soil is rich with excellent drainage. This combination of climate and soil is considered ideal for coffee.
Over the past few decades, this coffee has gained a reputation that has made it one of the most expensive and sought-after coffee varieties in the world. Traditionally, only coffee grown at an altitude of 910 meters to 1,700 meters can be called Jamaica Blue Mountain.
Blue Mountains Jamaica coffee grown from 460 meters to 910 meters high is called Jamaica High Mountain, and coffee grown below 460 meters is called Jamaica High or Jamaica Low Mountain.
All land in Jamaica above 1700 meters is a forest reserve, so coffee is not grown there!
